Second European Economic Congress in Katowice in a month_The confirmed guest list includes persons with a great influence on the European economy

The President of the European Parliament, Commissioners of the European Union, Polish and foreign government officials and representatives of the most recognised firms and corporations, in total over 3,500 people will meet at the Second European Economic Congress in Katowice (EEC). It is only a month left to the largest conference in Central Europe.

The President of the European Parliament and the Honorary President of the Patronage Council – the EEC 2010 Organizing Committee Jerzy Buzek will open the European Economic Congress 2010. The inauguration speech will also be made by the EU Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget Janusz Lewandowski, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak.

Individual sessions and thematic panels at EEC 2010 will be attended by numerous Polish government officials, including Professor Leszek Balcerowicz, former Prime Minister Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Ćwiąkalski, Minister of Regional Development Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk, Minister of the State Treasury Aleksander Grad, Minister of Environment Andrzej Kraszewski and Minister of Science and Higher Education Barbara Kudrycka.

The luminaries who will share their global knowledge and experience at the EEC 2010 include Representative of the Slovakian Government for Euro Issues Igor Barát, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Ryanair Michael Cawley, Deputy Prime Minister for Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Erik Gauss, Vice-President at Signal Iduna Group Wolfgang Fauter, Chief Executive for Europe Hitachi Sir Stephen Gomersall, Executive Vice-President at Fortum Oyj Per Langer, Vice-President of the EU Commission on Industry, Research and Energy Evžen Tošenovský, President of Saint-Etienne Metropolis Maurice Vincent and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Finland, former Vice-President at Nokia Corporation Stefan Widomski.

The session on metropolises in Europe, moderated by Professor Marek Szczepański, a sociologist from the University of Silesia, will be highlighted by the speech of such prominent figures as the best country branding expert, according to ‘The Economist’, Jose Filipe Torres, CEO at BloomConsulting (Spain).

The European Economic Congress 2010 will host representatives of companies which are among 100 largest corporations in this part of Europe. These will include CEZ, Enea, Kulczyk Investments, Lotos, PGE, PGNiG PKN Orlen, Tauron Polska Energia and Veolia. Furthermore, the most important financial institutions such as Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Bank Zachodni WBK, Citi Handlowy, ING Group, PKO PB and Rothschild are going to send their strong representations.

‘One month only left to the Congress date; each day our confirmed guest list expands, which has already made us convinced that this year’s European Economic Congress will be even greater than last year’s edition. The patronage over EEC 2010 was assumed by the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso’, says Wojciech Kuśpik, the initiator of EEC and the President of PTWP SA Group.

The aim of EEC is to provide a platform for initiating direct contact and exchanging experiences among entities from various industries operating in the European Community market. The European Economic Congress 2010 is the largest business event in Central Europe. For three days, it will gather over 3,500 guests and 400 panellists. It will take place from 14 to 16 April 2010 in Katowice.

EEC 2010 co-organizers are the Silesian Voivodeship, the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and the City of Katowice. The Congress organizer is PTWP SA Group, the publisher of the Nowy Przemysł monthly and the editor of WNP.pl.
